FAQ's & Links

Over the years we are asked certain questions over and over again. In the hope of saving both time and bandwidth with individual replies, the following information may help answer some of your questions about Texas Blueberries.

Q: I have seen "Texas Blueberries - Big Blues" in several supermarkets. Are these blueberries from your farm?
A: No. The label you are referring to belongs to the Texas Blueberry Marketing Association. We do not market through the TBMA. They sell blueberries from Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and other places. Our blueberries are naturally grown on Texas soil with Texas pride. Our company name says it all, we are "Texas Blueberries."

Q: Do you sell organic blueberries?
A: Our blueberry planting has NOT had ANY pesticide application for over 14 years. (knock-on-wood) It can not be certified "organic" only because we use chemical fertilizer instead of poop. We consider this "as good as" organic, but the governmental agencies do not.

Q: Do you (Texas Blueberries) sell blueberry plants?
A: No.

Q: Do you sell blueberries to the general public?
A: Yes. However, most of our fresh and frozen blueberries are sold wholesale in 20# & 30# boxes, by the pallet/truck load. Individual customers may come to our farm and buy fresh blueberries by the box, in any quantity, at the present wholesale price of the day. (In other words; You blueberry lovers can save big-bucks if you come to us and stock up for the year. We'll show you how.)

Q: OK. Where are you located and, when is harvest season?
A: Texas Blueberries is located just 3 miles north of Grapeland off Hwy 19/287, on County Road 2330, Houston County, Texas. Click here for Area MAP . . . . Click here for Local MAP. Harvest season usually begins the first week of June, and continues until mid-July. This is the ONLY time we are open to the general public.

Q: Can we come and pick blueberries at your farm, and what are your business hours?
A: Unfortunately no, we do not allow Pick-Your-Own. Each night we process from 5 to 7 tons of blueberries, but we'll gladly part with a few pounds just for you. Our seasonal business hours for the general public are 1:00am - 9:00am M-F. (Days and times subject to change as dictated by Mother Nature and shipping schedules. So, it's always best to call for availability before you come by.) Click here for contact information.

Q: Do you know where I can go to Pick-My-Own blueberries?
A: If you live (or, are visiting) in Texas, you might try the following link to the Texas Department of Agriculture. Here you can search for a PYO by county or by produce type. (This is an off-site link. "Texas Blueberries" is not responsible for the accuracy of TDA information.)
